and about the JDRF.. They told my parents when I was diagnosed at the age of one, that they were on the brink of a cure and guaranteed there would be one within 10 years. My parents bit and gave them lots of money to pursue this “cure”… I am now 23 years old, and there deadline is 13 years past due.
The JDRF is a Scam. There will never be a cure marketed… Every time someone comes up with a cure, somehow there taxes show that they all of a suddenly have made $50,000.000.00 and there lab magically burnt to the ground with all the info in it.. The money makers (drug companies, Government) will never allow a cure for Diabetes. or any disease.
Now getting a decent health care bill is a very important step in making life much more fair to diabetics. It will be costly still, but in most civilized countries, it will be free. I am not happy at all with everything in the current bills, but something will need to be done.
If it wasn’t such a financial burden to people with DM1, it wouldn’t be so bad with an automated glucose homeostasis system.
What will likely happen is that in a couple of years, sensor technology will improve to the point that we can get real time knowledge of what our blood glucose is at the time rather than what it was 20-30 minutes ago as we have with current CGM technology. Then, model predictive control algorithms based on well validated models of insulin dynamics will be implemented in pumps. Ultimately the pump will be implantable and most people won’t ever have to think about it on a regular basis.
Go on and bury your head nyes13…. Did you not understand what I said? I stated that they will never “MARKET” a cure for diabetes. I’m sure a cure can be found and may have already been found. But only lab rats will benefit from that research because they will never market it to the public for human diabetics. Lab rats have no money to spend on TREATMENTS so it’s ok to cure them.

Treatments make money and a cure would kill that cash cow that feeds the economy on the backs of diabetics. Your brother is a scientist? HaHahaha… What do you think he’s going to do for diabetes? NOTHING… That’s what he’ll do… Sorry but that’s reality. Deal with it.
