Asthma is a chronic lung disease that effects over 30 million Americans alone and researchers estimate that 10 aE” 15% of the world population suffers from asthma. People with asthma have extra sensitive or hyper-responsive airways.

The airways become irritated and narrow and constrict during an asthma attack, causing increased resistance to airflow, and obstructing the flow of the air to and from the lungs. Long-term control medications must be taken each day as part of asthma treatment. This kind of asthma treatment regimen is primarily designed to control the inflammation of the airways.

Quick-relief medications can provide effective asthma treatment by relaxing the bronchial smooth muscles, and combatting acute asthma attacks. Mixed Asthma Mixed asthma is a combination of intrinsic and extrinsic asthma. Mixed asthma patients react to certain allergies but also are triggered by other reasons and things. How does biofeedback apply to asthma? During an asthma attack, the muscles around the airways are inflamed and contracted. If these muscles can be relaxed, air would flow more freely into the lungs and the distressing symptoms of asthma would be alleviated. Biofeedback systems train the patient to accomplish just that.

No matter how well things are going, there will always be a nagging fear in the back of your asthmatic child’s mind that it can only last so long. That sooner or later something will trigger another asthma attack. Unfortunately, the more your child worries about triggering an attack, the more likely the stress from that worry will actually lead to an acute episode. Which, in turn, leads to still more stress. These medications are applicable when the disease is at a somewhat advanced stage and not mild. To control the symptoms and for disease treatment, anti-inflammatory drugs need to be taken. And along with them supplemental medications in the form of prolonged bronchodilators need to be taken.

However, many asthmatics sometimes tend to forget that even though they may know how to identify infant asthma is simply not adequate, they should be be conscious and aware that in order to have an asthma-free lifestyle, a proper and yet effective asthma recovery system is necessary. Even without a proper asthma management system, there will not be much asthma free lifestyle to hope for.

Having this information at your next doctor’s appointment will go a long way in determining if the asthma treatment program currently being used, is effective or needs to be adjusted. It’s only by having consistent information and feedback can your doctor fine tune your personal asthma treatment plan. Fast acting drugs like bronchodilators are used to relax the muscles and allow air to again move through the bronchial airways. No alternative asthma treatment option available can deliver relief in those critical moments when an emergency strikes. These are a critical part of and asthma treatment plan and should be used at the first signs of symptoms.

Even though almost no evidence supports the effectiveness of therapies like air ionizers or chiropractic, other types of natural asthma treatments like homeopathy, yoga practices and hypnosis have shown notable results as asthma treatment. Hypnosis, just like yoga or meditation, albeit in a much easier and faster way, provides asthma relief because it is able to help control the psychological side of asthma through relaxation. With hypnosis you will be a lot more relaxed, which will help prevent asthmatic attacks.

Butterbur is a shrub found in Europe, North America, and Asia. The active ingredients of this herbal shrub contain petasin and isopetasin. These two ingredients are known to reduce muscle spasm which are responsible for closing the throat. They also have an anti-inflammatory effect naturally. The butterbur has been tested with inhalers to give asthma patients a more effective treatment when used together. However, butterbur is not a replacement for medications. This is one of the natural asthma cures that works to reduce the intake of medication by relaxing the muscles and preventing attacks.

You can get natural treatments for asthma by finding the cause; I usually keep a notepad next to me and see when my asthma occurs. I then try to look for a pattern and then try to find a solution, instead of masking it with prescribed medication. Below I will provide some reasons why our homes can trigger asthma symptoms and also the ways to prevent it from happening.

It would be a huge mistake not to use natural asthma remedies when treating your asthma symptoms. You should not risk your health for what someone else says is proven to work. Many people who take prescription asthma medications do not know that there are some very detrimental side effects that come along with their usage. Here, we will give examples of some safe, affordable, and effective natural asthma remedies that you can find located right where you live.

MSM: MSM is an organic sulfur-containing nutrient, a naturally-occurring compound in the environment and in the human body. Sulfur is necessary for the structure of every cell in the body. Hormones, enzymes, antibodies, and antioxidants all depend on it. Because the body utilizes and expends it on a daily basis, sulfur must be continually replenished for optimal nutrition and health. MSM has anti-inflammatory properties. It boosts immunity and is helpful for allergies.

Asthma natural treatments can include eating fresh fruits and/or vegetables in your daily meals. Adulthood asthma may be prevented through eating these vegetables and fruits with a wide variety of produce, as some may say.

These may range depending on the severity of the asthma sufferer. Because some asthma patients may suffer from life-threatening asthma, asthmatics should follow these certain precautions: Use hypoallergenic supplements, avoid magnesium or vitamin C in excess of 3 grams per day if kidney disease or dysfunction is/are present, avoid fish, fish oil or shark-liver oil if you have fish allergies, be cautious when supplementing medicinal herbs if fruits, vegetables, condiments, culinary herbs, and/or spices or flower pollens trigger your allergic reactions.

Natural asthma treatment would therefore mean that one uses natural methods such as prevention. An asthmatic patient should be able to control their condition naturally by preventing the causes of asthma in their situations. These causes are the ones that trigger an asthmatic condition and bring about the symptoms. If the triggers are avoided, then the conditions can be controlled naturally. These triggers include fungi, molds pollen, animals, exercise, emotions, hormones, sex etc.

Asthma is a predisposition to chronic inflammation of the lungs in which airways are narrowed. It affects 7% of the population, 300 million worldwide and causes 4,000 deaths per year in the United States. During asthma attacks, the smooth muscle cells in the bronchi constrict, and the airways become inflamed and swollen. Most asthmatics compare an asthma attack to breathing through a coffee straw, if they are breathing in any oxygen at all.

Asthma attacks can happen at any time and without warning. Attacks can be triggered by almost anything: allergens, a dusty book cover, exercise, pets, weather, or even anxiety. There is a wide spectrum of severity within asthma, some people only rarely experience symptoms, where others may have restricted airflow at all times. Common symptoms of asthma include nighttime coughing, shortness of breath, tightness in the chest, wheezing, and a chronic ‘throat-clearing’ cough.

It is widely believed that asthma is caused by environmental factors as well as genetics. Asthma appears to be more prevalent in athletes than in the general population, with a relatively high incidence in sports requiring strong cardiovascular development. This includes cycling, long-distance running and most popular team sports. Despite the severity of the condition, asthma can be controlled with proper treatment. Medication can help stop wheezing and shortness of breath, but it is only part of an overall wellness program that will help establish a healthy lifestyle and provide asthma relief.

Medication

Most asthmatics use an inhaler to control their asthma. Activity-induced asthmatics use their inhalers thirty minutes to an hour before exercise to help control symptoms. Beta2-agonists are also a standard therapy, administered with a nebulizer in a fine spray. Corticosteroids given within an hour of exercise, or within an hour of an attack, will help reduce the symptoms or prevent the need for hospitalization. Please speak with a certified doctor about your condition before using any medication.

Health and Wellness

The healthier an asthmatic’s lungs are the better chances they have for either outgrowing the condition or sending their symptoms into remission. Exercise with proper medication will help strengthen the lungs as well as provide confidence in one’s ability to breathe well during activities. Health and wellness can go a long way with asthma.

Controlling the Environment

No matter the age of the asthmatic, maintaining a safe environment for breathing well is crucial. Whether it be at home, in the office, riding in the car or playing with the kids, a clean and asthma-safe environment will help any asthmatic take strides with their condition. Dust-free surfaces, plastic-coated mattresses, and purified inside air will help any asthmatic reduce symptoms and breathe freely. It is highly recommended that a quality air purifier system be utilized in all inside areas of consistent usage.

The Vornado® Air Quality System 500 Whole Room Air Purifier uses Vornado’s signature Vortex Technology to effectively circulate and filter all the air in the room for a new level in indoor air quality satisfaction. Created with the asthmatic in mind, the AQS 500 uses two filters designed to trap dust, pollen, pet dander, smoke, bacteria, mold spores and dust mite debris, preventing the environment from triggering an attack. This Energy Star qualified product is capable of six air changes per hour.

As the world moves advance and globalizes, with more than 15 million people suffering from asthma, this sickness can be a very serious and debilitating affliction. Asthma has a variety of different causes, one of them being bronchitis.

Bronchial asthma symptoms affects numerous men and women every day and, if you are one of them, there is hope for a remedy. Because the asthma is triggered by the bronchitis it makes finding a treatment for it greatly easier.

Asthma is a condition that occurs because of an inflammation of the air passages going to the lungs. Irritation in the airway causes it to become highly sensitive, causing the lining of the path to swell up, which blocks the air going to the lungs. The severity of the disease varies from person to person.

If any of these symptoms seems to be coming up on a regular basis try to remember what some of the triggers may have been so that you can avoid them inn the future and so that you will be able to give your doctor a clear explanation as to what has been triggering these Asthma Symptoms.

Some triggers that you should look out for are:

-Tobacco Smoke
-Cold or Flu
-Any Allergens you may have toward: pollen, food, animals, mold, dust mites etc.

Some of the symptoms of bronchial asthma are wheezing, shortness or breath, tightening of the chest, and coughing. There are medications that can be taken to help clear the airways such as inhalers, and nebulizing machines used with medicine to breathe over. Both of these can open up the airways. You may have to watch your diet as allergies to foods can also cause some of these bronchial asthma symptoms.

If their peak flow measurement is 50%-80% lesser than their baseline peak flow measurement, it may indicate they are at risk of an acute asthma attack if they do not take immediate action. If the peak flow reading is lesser than 50% of their normal reading it is time they sought medical intervention as a severe attack can become life threatening in some cases.

Cats that demonstrate these symptoms are generally diagnosed as having either chronic bronchitis or what is referred to a feline asthma. However, most experts will agree that it is very difficult to distinguish the two from each other.

What is agreed upon, is that both symptoms can, if not properly treated, become life threatening to you cat as it affects their breathing and lung capacity.

Because symptoms vary from person to person, you should at least be familiar with the most common symptoms. Coughing is usually one. Do you have a cough that is worse in the early morning or at night? Do you wheeze a lot? A tight feeling in your chest, panting or shortness of breath may also point to asthma. Watch out for frequent allergies as well.

Inflammation in the airway that is developed from the involvement of these allergy producing and inflammatory cells are contributors to hyperresponsiveness in the airway, chronic disease, airflow limitation and symptoms associated with the respiration.

Apparently, there are specific bronchial asthma treatments that may always depend on the severity of the asthma condition present on the person. The frequency of the asthma signs and symptoms are always considered.

Asthma symptoms don’t follow any specific rules and can be very unpredictable. For many people, they have to deal with their asthma symptoms almost every day. For reasons not totally understood, others might have their symptoms only show up every once in a great while.

Allergic asthma is typically caused by airborne and seasonal allergens. Typically, there is a family history of allergies, but not necessarily asthma. Once you are exposed to the allergen, it acts as a trigger for an asthma attack. By avoiding the allergen, the asthma is controlled.

This type of asthma is the most common among all the other types. Statistics show that kids are more prone to allergic asthma with 90% having the disorder. Allergens such as molds, pollen and mites are the most common culprit of allergic asthma. Exercising in cold air or inhaling strong fumes, dust, smoke, perfumes or colognes can actually make it worse.

People who suffer from any form allergy are prone to get this type of asthma. Often other family members also suffer from some form allergies. People in this group often suffer from other related allergic conditions (atopy) such eczema and hay fever. This type of asthma often develops in childhood and usually cause problem mainly in certain seasons of the year.

Symptoms of Allergies

Symptoms ranging from itchy skin, stuffed up nasal cavities, runny noses, head or sinus aches, bouts of sneezing, sinusitis, irritated, watery and reddish eyes, puffy, swollen or discolored eyelids, wheezing, a “tight” chest, scratchy throats, raspy voices, dry unproductive coughs, feelings of lethargy, mental fatigue and even depression are not uncommon.

There are three basic components to an effective asthma treatment which are: monitoring of symptoms, preventing triggers, and medication treatment. Evaluating each component will produce a better understanding of the suitable treatment given that will help control and prevent symptoms.

It is important to know what your personal asthma triggers are. Preventative medications do not stop an asthma attack, they only help improve your day to day functioning. Therefore, knowing your personal triggers is a must. Triggers can include weather conditions like extreme temperatures, pet dander, dust, mold, pollen, dairy products, emotions, and exercise.

Other asthma attack natural treatments may vary from medicines or certain types of remedies, in which in most cases are used sometimes in a mixture with other components inside of an inhaler. Depending on the asthma inhaler type, some may be a natural way to decrease asthma attacks within your lifetime, and after awhile may decrease the overall symptoms of your asthma.

Asthma is a chronic disease of the respiratory system in which the airway occasionally constricts, becomes inflamed, and is lined with excessive amounts of mucus, often in response to one or more triggers. In children, the most common triggers are viral illnesses such as those that cause the common cold. This airway narrowing causes symptoms such as wheezing, shortness of breath, chest tightness, and coughing.

Bishop’s Weed (Trachyspermum ammi)

Bishop’s weed is an expectorant. It can relieve dried up phlegm within the respiratory tract. It can be taken with buttermilk for best results.

THE MECHANISMS OF ALLERGY

The total set of reactions occurring by allergy is very complicated. Many of these are the same as by normal immune reaction, even though they occur when they should not take place. Here are listed some of these reactions:

By exposure to a new substance, cells in the immune system learn to recognize that substance (allergen), and it learns to produce anti-bodies towards the substance, and a certain amount of antibodies is produced. The type of anti-bodies called IgE is the most important by allergic reactions.

IgE will glue itself to some cells in the blood called mast-cells, and stick out from the surface of these cells. By following exposures to antigens, these will attach themselves to the IgE-ends sticking out from the mast-cells. This will trigger the mast-cells to produce histamine and other signal substances. These signal substances will then spread through the surrounding tissues.

The signal substances will then trigger the walls of small blood vessels to leak fluid into the tissues and accumulate in the tissues. This will cause tissue swelling. They also will cause blood vessels to widen and thus increase the blood stream in the tissues. The consequence of this will be swelling and redness in the affected body parts. The signal substances will also make glands in the tissue produce more mucus, making symptoms like running nose and tight throat.

The new exposures to the antigens will also provoke even more anti-body production. The antibodies will also glue allergens together to bigger complexes. These complexes can clog small blood vessels and in other ways disturb the function of the affected organ.

The allergen-antibody-complexes are then recognized by the cells and other mechanisms that the body uses to collect and eliminate garbage. Eater-cells gather and engulf the complexes.

The immune system also will make enzymes that attack the antigens to break them down. Also this production is stimulated when antigens attach themselves to anti-bodies at cell surfaces. But these enzymes are not entirely specific, and can also to some extend break down components of the body’s own tissue, causing harm and disease symptoms.

WHAT CAUSES THE IMMUNE SYSTEM TO REACT WITH ALLERGY TO A SUBSTANCE

In the beginning of the life of a person, the immune system has the potency to react against most substances in the body itself and the surroundings. However, there are mechanisms that learn the immune system to recognize normal substances found in the daily life in the early infanthood, and suppress the reactions against these. If this learning mechanism is disturbed, allergy can develop.

Allergy can also develop if a small child is never exposed to substances that later will be a normal ingredient of his daily life. In this case the immune system will not get the chance to suppress the reaction against this substance. Letting a small child grow up in an exaggerated clean and sterile environment can therefore cause allergies.

On the other hand, certain elements not being a part of a normal environment can cause allergies by repeated and massive exposure. Examples of such substances are chlorine.

TYPES OF ALLERGIES

Allergy varies according to the compound that causes the immunological reaction. An allergic condition also often implies reaction against a combination of several substances. Common substances causing allergy are: Pollen, domestic dust, mites in domestic dust, moulds and mould spores, chlorine, chemicals in soaps and cosmetics, animal hair, seafood, strawberry, fish, parasites, medicines like anaesthetics and antibiotics

An allergic condition may periodically get better or worse according to the concentration of the allergen in the environment. A typical example is pollen allergy with peaks in the pollination season of grass or treas.

An allergic person will often get symptoms from several tissues in the body, but the symptoms are often most prominent at one body part and give very specific symptoms at that site. Examples of specific conditions often caused by allergy are eczema in the skin and asthma in the lungs and lower airpipe.Â

THE SYMPTOMS OF ALLERGY

Any organ can exhibit allergic reactions, but often the symptoms are confined mainly to one organ or organ system.

By allergic reactions in the respiratory system there will be symptoms like: Itching and soreness in the throat and nose cavities, swelling of the airway tissues, increased amount of secrets in the airway cavities and coughing. There may also be asthmatic symptoms or fully developed asthma. The main symptom of asthma is cramping that constricts the airways all the way down into the lungs (constriction of the trachea and tracholes).

By allergic reactions in the skin, there will be symptoms like: Redness, swelling, red spots, itching and soars.

HOW TO PREVENT ALLERGY

To prevent allergies in an individual the best way, one must begin in early childhood.

A child must be allowed to get in contact with natural elements like earth, dirt, animals, plants, physical contact with other humans, and the like. This exposure to natural elements must occur before an allergy has developed. In this way the immune system will learn to recognize common and harmless elements, and not overreact against this later in life.

Research projects have found out that children having much and early contact with pet animals like cats and dogs have a less chance of getting allergic problems later than children not having contact with pets. This is contrary to what many people believe.

On the other hands, every person should be protected from early childhood from certain elements normally not found in a natural environment, for example chlorine, soaps and cosmetics with artificial substances, and food containing unnatural additives.

METHODS TO TREAT ALLERGY

The first approach in the treatment of manifest allergy is avoiding exposure to substances causing the allergic reactions. Even though exposure to natural substances can prevent allergy, exposure to an allergen should be avoided when an allergy already has developed. Ways of doing this is:

- Avoiding food one reacts against

- Avoiding contact with animals one have an allergic reaction towards

- Keeping rooms, clothes beds and furniture well cleaned

- Avoiding use of cleaners, soaps and cosmetics with unnatural additives

- Avoiding foods, drinks and snacks with unnatural additives

- Avoiding daily exposure to chlorine and other chemicals

- In cooperation with your doctor change medicines you use that may cause allergy with others

- Avoiding growth of moulds in the environment. This is done by well cleaning and keeping the environment dry.

Children are often exposed to allergens at school, and adults are often exposed at work. Parents with allergic children must inspect the school environment and require from the school administration and teachers that practically possible environmental measures are provided to keep the school free from allergens. An employee should require the same from his employer.

If you do not know exactly everything you react against, you can try to stop exposure to one factor after another, until you feel that the allergy alleviates, and then keep this factor out of your daily life for the future.

Sometimes avoiding allergens is difficult to accomplish, or make the lifestyle to restricted to be acceptable. Then one must apply medical treatment that alleviates the allergy.

A common way of treating allergy is
applying medication that block the effect of the substance histamine, and thereby alleviate or prevent the symptoms occurring when the antigen get into the body.

Another way is desensitisation treatment. By this treatment one let the body get a controlled and gradually increasing exposure to the allergens over a time period, and when this period is over, one let the body get recurrent exposure to a controlled dose at regular time intervals. By this treatment the response from the immune system from the allergens gradually decrease, partly because the immune system thereby learns to recognize the allergens as harmless, and partly because the antibodies against the allergens are used up.

There are also natural products on the marked that contain ingredients that help the immune system to react more appropriately. Important effects of these products are reduced histamine secretion and increased histamine metabolism. Examples of ingredients in such medicines are: Methylsulfonyl methane, vitamin C, vitamin E, Echinacea purpurea, Quercetin, grape Seed, Stinging nettle, Coleus Forskolin.
